We're experiencing a significant increase in requests for pet surrender assistance. At this time, all available surrender appointments for cats and dogs through the end of August have been filled.

We will begin scheduling September surrender appointments on Friday, August 7.

Find a Stray Dog?
Contact Franklin County Dog Shelter.

Our Animal Support Center exists to provide support and resources to people and animals in need. We strive to find a collaborative solution that will work for everyone. From providing supplies and equipment to help you keep your pet successfully, to finding another home for your pet, to owner requested euthanasia when appropriate, we are here to help. Options for each situation are discussed during an initial appointment, which will include a veterinary exam.

Additionally, we serve many types of stray animals here at Columbus Humane, but all stray dogs go to Franklin County Animal Control.

I FOUND A STRAY ANIMAL. WHAT DO I DO?
Be sure to contact neighbors and post a photo of the found animal on PetFBI.org, a free lost and found pet resource. You can also call our Animal Support Center at (614) 777-7387 to schedule a help session appointment. For resources regarding stray dogs in Franklin County, please contact Franklin County Animal Care and Control (614) 525-5409.

CAN YOU HELP ME REHOME MY PET?
Rehoming a pet is a difficult decision that deserves careful consideration. Our Client Care team will take the time to understand your individual circumstances and help you make a decision that is right for you and your animal. Many times we are able to provide temporary support or guidance so that you are able to keep your pet successfully in your home. If it is in the best interest of your family and your pet to seek other options, our staff can provide the assistance you need to ensure the pet receives the highest quality of care.
