Adoption fees range for all pets. For a specific fee on a specific pet, please ask.
Cats: $75–$125
Dogs: $125–$450
Rabbits: $50
Pocket Pets: $15–$100 (varies based on species)
Columbus Humane offers a 10% Military discount to all active and veteran members.
Adoption fees cover the following:
Spay/neuter surgery
First vaccinations
Rabies vaccine if animal is old enough
Dewormer
Flea prevention
Heartworm test (dogs)
Microchip and registration
New pet parents supplies available for purchase at the shelter
Get 30 days of pet insurance at no cost to you
To help ease your transition to pet parenthood, MetLife Pet Insurance has arranged for each adopter to have 30 days of pet insurance or a gift for your new family member at no cost to you!
Your 30-day policy includes:
$500 of coverage for accidents & illnesses
100% reimbursement after a $50 deductible for covered accidents & illnesses
Use any licensed vet, emergency clinic or specialist in the United States

Holds
Adopters can place a 24 hour hold on an animal they met while visiting Columbus Humane for $20 fee. The hold ensures the animal is not adopted for 24 hours while the adopter makes a decision. Holds cannot be placed on animals in advance of meeting them in-person.
