Dear Columbus Humane Community.

Dear Columbus Humane Community,

As a fundraising professional, my work at the end of the year rises to meet the generosity of the community that surrounds me. For Columbus Humane, we are continuously overwhelmed with gratitude for the individuals, families, companies, and foundations who prioritize our work in their giving at year end. They do this by offering in-kind support for our most needed supplies, making donations in honor of their pet-loving friends, hosting a work-place supply or donation drive or making a gift to support a pet family in need this holiday season.

You know Columbus Humane is here to help pets and people in our community. What you may not realize is how heavily dependent Columbus Humane is on support from people like you – as much as 80% of our budget comes from donations. When we say we could not do our work without your support, we meant it! Here are a few ways your dollars make an impact inside and outside our walls – donations allow:

  • The purchase of greatly discounted pet food and supplies to distribute through our Pet Food Distribution Program, currently serving 10,000 pounds of food per week.

  • Our veterinary staff to treat everything from skin infections to broken legs to parasites (and more!) for animals in our hospital.

  • Our humane agents to travel over 100 miles daily, 365 days a year to address over 6,000 calls from our community.

  • Our Animal Support Center to take in stray litters of kittens or assist individuals considering a surrenderer.

  • Temporary safekeeping of owned pets when their human families are escaping domestic violence.

We must also celebrate the incredible support for the upcoming Columbus Humane Essential Care Center – we’re just $670,000 away from our goal! This community focused facility will bolster our Pet Food Distribution Program, offer low-cost veterinary options for sick and injured care, and train the next generation of professionals in animal health.

Thank you for helping to make 2022 a generous and impactful year for our mission. Next year marks our 140th anniversary - our work endures in the Columbus community because of philanthropy. Help us ensure we can remain steadfast in the community for the next 140 years by making a gift by December 31st!

Gratefully,

Katie Nickels
