Columbus Humane welcomed me to the family three years ago this month to oversee our fundraising efforts. I am passionate about all philanthropy, but especially legacy giving because of a special connection I have with my grandfather who passed away in January 2021. He left a lasting legacy and I am inspired to help others do the same.
My work in philanthropy began 12 years ago, with my grandparents alongside as my biggest cheerleaders. Giving back was always a priority for them and they taught our entire family the importance of why. “If you care for an organization and the mission they serve, then promising them a future should be one in the same,” they said. I aspire to give back in a comparable way and it led me here to Columbus Humane.
During his life, my grandfather cared for his community, academia, sports, animal welfare, and cancer research. I feel his absence every day, but I find joy in knowing the lasting effect he had on the missions he cared loved most. I love that his spirit lives on by making an impact for all the organizations he supported - through the intentions outlined in his estate and by setting up a charitable gift annuity during his life.
